The Custody & Adoption Evaluation Essentials courses are offered by Dr. Axelson, a Doctor of Social Work with 20 years of experience performing evaluations for families and courts all over Texas. Each course, one dedicated towards child custody evaluations and the other dedicated towards adoption evaluations, offers continuing education hours. Child Custody Evaluation Essentials
This course features 20 hours of instruction broken down into eight 2.5-hour classes. This training has 20 approved hours of continuing education for all Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, including 4 hours of ethics. Currently enrolling for the 2026 Fall Course, with classes every Tuesday beginning August 18, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. These courses are live via Zoom, and Dr. Axelson welcomes participation and questions! With handouts, examples, and practical explanations, this training is invaluable to your future practice.

and Parenting Faciliation training
(This includes 3 of the 8 hrs. required for custody evaluators, parenting facilitators and parenting coordinators).
4 Hrs. CEU and CLE, 1 hrs. ethics for Social Workers, LPCs, LMFTs, Psychologists, and Attorneys
This training equips professionals to recognize family violence dynamics in legal settings, apply evidence-based interventions to enhance safety and reduce emotional harm, and preserve healthy parent–child relationships amid high-conflict situations. Participants also gain practical, research-supported skills in child interviewing and in addressing unhealthy parenting and coparenting patterns to support informed, child-centered decision-making.
